Tomoe Hotaru

Who is Sailor Saturn?


She is Tomoe Hotaru, or Firefly of the Earth, a frail child who Chibi-Usa befriends. Isolated by her classmates who are afraid of her healing abilities, Hotaru was alone until she met Chibi-Usa. Her history is the only one in all of the senshi that is tied more into the bad guys than with the good. A long time ago, her father, Professor Tomoe Souichi(Souichi Tomoe, engish style), performed an experiment that went horribly wrong and killed his daughter and wife. To bring her back to life, Professor Tomoe gave his soul to evil. Little Hotaru is then ressurected, somewhat like a cyborg.

Hotaru was born on January 6, is a capricorn, and has an AB bloodtype. Her favorite food is Nihon Soba, or buckwheat noodles, while her least favorite is milk, which could be the reason for her frail state. She, like Michiru and Haruka goes to Mugen Gakuen where her favorite subject is world history while her least favorite is Physical Education. Her hobbies are reading and collecting lamps. Her favorite colors are black and purple, once again, her senshi colors and she dreams to become a doctor. During the S season, Hotaru also constantly has little outbursts of power that only the outer soldiers notice. She sometimes blanks out only to find that she doesn't remember what happens during the time between her seizures and her waking up.

As a senshi, Saturn is the soldier of Death and Rebirth. She is the unmatched strongest senshi in all of them (she can even destroy the world with two words!) The reason for the offer to Professor Tomoe to ressurect Hotaru is mainly to plant an egg inside her that would turn her into Mistress 9, the evil entity of Hotaru who tries to bring darkness and silence into this world by bringing Pharaoh 90. Hotaru does become Mistress 9, yet Hotaru defeats Mistress 9, and Saturn appears to Sailor Moon, then goes into Professor Tomoe's machine to stop Pharaoh 90 from coming. Super Sailor Moon follows her, and when the battle is over, brings to the rest of the senshi a baby girl. She is then given to Neptune and Uranus who then give her to Professor Tomoe who is recovering in a hospital (Turns out he also had a daimon inside him which is killed). This new Hotaru grows rapidly until, Saturn, once again, awakens. After regaining her senshi identity, Saturn turns the outer senshi into super sailor senshi.

Transformations and Forms

Sailor Saturn
Hotaru does not have a henshin phrase in the anime, considering she is always a special case. Even this transformation appeared only from the 'net considering she never does transform in the anime. The sequence is pretty short. Her nails kinda' just glow then we see her face turning toward the side. The camera zooms out and there she is, standing with her Silence Glaive.
Super Sailor Saturn
As always, a more powerful form of Saturn...though it's kinda' hard to imagine. Her fuku becomes identical to the rest of the senshi.

Her dark form when she's older and her hair is incredibly long

She is the princess of Saturn, after all

Attacks and Abilities

Healing
She can, as we already know, heal people. This is also a probable cause for her weak state
Silence Glaive Surprise
This is her attack in which she slams her Silence Glaive into the ground, but we never get to see the ending of the attack. Her Silence Glaive is this wickedly curved blade atop a long stick.
Silent Wall
An attack that shields her from attacks, she just kinda' turns around and a flash of light goes off as she faces the camera (it's much more interesting in the manga)
Death Ribbon (Reborn in Manga) Revolution
The manga attack in which she ends the world, she tried this only once, yet failed, although I'm not sure why. This one doesn't end the world in the anime.
