Naoko Takeuchi

Our Goddess

She is revered by many to be a Goddess, and if you love Sailor Moon, but don't know who she is, then...SHAME ON YOU! She is far more powerful than Sailor Moon or any senshi for that matter for she created the beautiful world of Sailor Moon. Sadly, not many sites revere her or really even give her much credit, but I vowed that this would neeeeeever eeeeeee...eeeeever be one of those sites. Naoko Takeuchi is the one power that Sailor Moon could not live without (umm...Mamo-chan MIGHT also be one ^.^) and I believe that all fans should know this!

Naoko Takeuchi was born on March 15, 1967 to Kenji and Ikuko Takeuchi (Usagi's parents' names =D!). She grew up in Yamanashi Perfecture with her younger brother Shingo (Usagi's younger brother's name...). At first, Naoko-sama wanted to be a pharmacist and studied at Kyoritsu University, while she was there, she created a manga called "Love Call" which received the "Nakayoshi new Manga-ka (manga artist) award". From her first manga, she made numerous others, including "The Cherry Project", Codename Wa Sailor V (Minako's story), and a collection of stories called Miss Rain. Of course, she is most well-known for the manga of Bishoujo Senshi Seeraa Muun (Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon). Now, Naoko-sama lives in Azabu Juuban in Tokyo, the very same area where Sailor Moon takes place. You can even see some of the manga buildings, including Rei's shinto shrine in real life!

The charm of "Tsukino Usagi" is very much present in Naoko-sama in that you really feel like it is Usagi talking directly to you when you read Naoko's notes in the manga. This is one of the many elements that makes "Sailor Moon" so very appealing to people-it's story and main character seems very real and genuine when expressing her feelings. It seems as though you know Naoko-sama on a personal note, just by reading her work.

Of course, we can't ever forget what she has told us in her autobiographical story of the years when she was creating this beautiful manga. She endured so much that it really makes us treasure this story so much more. Alex Glover (goddess<--my expression, he's popular...) translated this autobiographical work which Naoko-sama titled, "Princess Naoko Takeuchi's Return to Society Punch!" Really, reading this brought a whole new appreciation for this anime/manga.

The latest news concerning the beautiful Naoko-sama was when she married the creator of the very cool Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Yoshihiro Togashi. They were married on January 6, 1999 in a celebration that included the singing of "Moonlight Densetsu" by the seiyuus (voice actresses) of the five inner soldiers! Being that the two were both manga artists, many people of the manga/anime world partook in the festivities (don't we all wish we could have been there just to see our favorite manga-ka get married?? *.*)
